#29: Re: Any word on WM 2003 password screen security hole fix?
Posted by Chengster on November 29, 2003 at 02:42:29 Back to Top
I raised this a little over 2 months ago in this forum and so far this has not yet been addressed or acknowledged as a serious compatibility issue between GT and WM 2003.

Will you be looking at this matter? I appreciate that you have been moving and settling in but I would like to know if I have to turn to other products.

#28: Restore Gigatask Menu
Posted by Jeff Kelly on November 22, 2003 at 10:05:52 Back to Top
I just upgraded my Ipaq and installed GT. To save time, is there a file that I can copy from my old Ipaq that contains the menu structure? I tried replacing the entire GT directory from my old Ipaq and it still had the default menu.

do you plan on releasing a version for the new windows smartphone platform?

I read in the Giga Task help that it is possible to drap the menu across the screen to a different position, according to one's own personal needs, I have really tried at this but I have not had success. It would be nice in a future version if there were a small tab or some other area specifially for grapping the menu to move about. Also I had the impression that anywhere on the outside border of the menu was the place to click to move the menu. Is there some trick that I do not know about?

I've had to return my 5550 (awaiting a replacement) so I can't try this out - did you get a chance to fix the security issue on WM 2003 machines?

Thanks!

Actually, there's supposed to be an update each month, but I've been
lax. Also, changes get made to iTask for HP's benefit, and this
increments the version number on GigaTask, even though there may be no
observable change in GigaTask's behavior.

Just notice there was an update on Handango but no change in version number.

Is this a fix or no change yet?

Could you give an indication as to when you could look at this issue?

I have now noticed the the close (X) button can now completely bypass the fingerprint recognition/password screen!

As such I have had to stop using the software until this is fixed.

#15: gigatask icons active in startup password screen (wm2003)
Posted by chengster on September 27, 2003 at 16:58:36 Back to Top
Hi Gene

I just replaced my 3970 with a 5550. Last year you fixed GT such that the icons were not active during the windows startup password screen.

However it appears that WM2003 has broken this.

The settings, outlook and close buttons are now active again. Plus pressing the cancel button within the password screen will 'lock up' that button so that I can no longer close applications - a soft reset is needed.

Could you look into this please?

#14: Feature Request: Repeating Alarms
Posted by Dax Games on September 18, 2003 at 06:02:00 Back to Top
Gene,

I have finally made the switch from Gigabar to Gigatask, but there is 1 thing Gigabar has that is missing from Gagatask.

I used this feature nearly every day!

1. Access to the Giga Folder(File Management) portion of Gigabar. I know this is a DLL but would it be possible to make it an exe so it could be added to one of the 3 gigatask buttons as a MenuItem, preferably 0, so it could be popped up via pressing either a software or hardware button.

Also another request would be to somehow add repeating alarm functionality ala the original PPC2000 OS.

Thanks,

Dax

A soft reset is all that is necessary. For example:

Remove GigaTask.
Do a soft reset.
No icon shows.
Install GigaTask.
*Still* no icon shows.
Do another soft reset.
The Settings icon shows again.

Sorry it took awhile to get things straightened out!

The GigaTask Settings Icon located at Start | Settings (on the System Tab).

Sorry!

Perhaps you co8ld clarify a bit. The "Settings Icon" is missing from
where? What settings icon?

Is there a "GigaTask Settings" icon in Start Menu / Settings / System?

How in the world do you get support for this product. This forum is nice an all, but I would like to fix my problem sometime in the next century. I have sent two e-mails to support@gigatask.com and posted a message at this forum. I have not received any response at all. I paid for a product and expect some level of support. ?????????????????????????????

#9: RE: iTask 2.14 on new HP2210 from http://www.gigat
Posted by Gene Knight on September 09, 2003 at 04:58:32 Back to Top
Actually, with iTask, you can just *erase* the itaskf.txt file in the
Windows directory. When you run iTask the next time, it will be
recreated.

This will cause iTask to rescan the Start Menu, *but* it will also
re-initialize its menus, so those will have to be reprogrammed.

Indeed, with GigaTask, you can just press the 'scan' button.

#8: iTask 2.14 on new HP2210
Posted by M Price on September 08, 2003 at 13:33:34 Back to Top
I just picked up a new HP2210 with iTask pre-installed. I have used gigatask before and really liked it.

How do I get itask to find my other programs on the iPaq. The button to allow this does not seem to be there. Is there some way to make this happen or do I have to install gigatask?

#7: Missing Settings
Posted by matchbx on August 22, 2003 at 10:53:31 Back to Top
I have had gigatask installed for several weeks now and it has worked great. However, today I started to add a new program to one of the menus and the settings icon is missing. I do have the GigaTask Settings avaliable in one of the menus but nothing happens when I launch it. I did a soft reset but that did not change anything. My next setp is to reinstall the app, but I would like to avoid that is possible.

Thanks,
matchbx

#6: RE: WM 2003
Posted by Gene Knight on August 12, 2003 at 09:55:07 Back to Top
Um, why not just try it, and find out?

In any case, GigaTask and iTask share the same code, so since iTask is
shipping on PPC03 machines, GigaTask has to go along for the ride. You
shouldn't have a problem.

Gene,

Something is wrong with the download link. It takes you to some sort of a survey on Handango and not to the download.
